Donors

The School is supported entirely by donations from the private sector and from concerned individuals, primarily from Guyana but also from the USA.  Some donors have made long-term commitments which allow us to plan ahead.  Parents contribute as much as they can afford;  no child is refused admission for financial reasons.

Starting the School in September 2011 was an act of faith.  At that time we barely had enough funds to cover our costs for the first term.  Now we are able to plan for the next two years with confidence.  We acknowledge with deep gratitude the generosity of all our donors.

Some challenges remain for our future work:

1. Expanding the School:  Our current site is provided free of cost by our Deputy Chair, Mrs Seebarran.  We have recently been given land by the Ministry of Education, land that will allow us to build a bigger school and to offer the outdoor space children need for play, exercise and healthy development. But now we urgently need funding to build this new school.  The new school will include space to train teachers, parents and health professionals.  As we expand, we will need more sponsorships for children and tutors (see How You Can Help).  We will also need another school bus and driver, and outdoor play and exercise equipment.

2. Planning for the future of our children:  As our children get older, we need to offer skills training and employment opportunities.  The services of an occupational therapist are essential to allow us to plan for a more independent life for our children.

3. Maintaining the quality of our programme:  Our consultants (Dr Jim Ellis, Dr Kerry Davis and Ms Jen Stornelli) provide their services entirely free of cost, but we continue to need funding to cover costs of airfares.

Our consultants hand over a cheque to the Foundation’s Deputy Chair Deborah. The donation came from a fundraiser organized by the consultants in the USA.
